Hereford sale sets new high in Texas Panhandle fair
The Panhandle Hereford Breeders Association auction sold 71 cattle for nearly $40,000, the highest in 32 years. Bulls totaled 54 at $31,170 led by a $4,700 top price to Tomie Potts of Memphis. Seventeen females brought $8,605 led by a $1,025 bid for a Potts consignment.

Man Loses Car To Hitchhikers In Springfield
A Texas salesman from Amarillo was forced from his auto by an armed woman and a male companion after giving them a ride from Lincoln. The pair, a young woman about 20 and a man about 25, produced a pistol and said they needed the car. Burleigh said no money was taken and he was left on the road. a passing bus later gave him a ride to Springfield.

Three Die and Injured in Bushland Underpass Crash
Three people were hurt in a two car head on collision at the Bushland underpass on Highway 66 eight miles west of Amarillo.
