Man in Quanah Jail Claims Texas Killing
P H Hunt, jailed for narcotic charges in Quanah Texas, told Sheriff Frank Aiken he killed J J Knight, a Wichita Falls and Dallas oil operator, near Buckeye Arizona. Knight disappeared August 1922. skeletal remains later found. Hunt said robbery motive and that he kept about 1500 dollars in cash and diamonds. Two others, a man and a woman, were arrested in connection with the case.

Translation of Code Messages 10 Be Offered Translation 10 Be Offered
Official translations of the code messages found in the McLean telegrams will be presented to the Senate oil committee tomorrow by W. F. Friedman cipher expert of the Army signal corps. Friedman, who assisted in decoding enemy messages during the war, has studied the telegrams for days and has an old Justice Department code used in some messages. The committee will then question Mrs. Mary Duckstein, a Justice Department operative who sent a cipher message to her husband, W. O. Duckstein. Burns will testify about the Mary message and other matters, including alleged special agent salaries and how McLean associates obtained a code once used by the bureau. A coded telegram to E. L. Doheny in Los Angeles, delivered January 20, was found in the Western Union batch and translated, showing it used a different code from the McLean messages.
