The Navy announced on March 2 that Goodyear Zeppelin Corp of Akron Ohio submitted the only bid of 1 997 482 dollars to build a 325 foot experimental and training dirigible the first rigid airship to be built in the United States in a decade.
Tonight at 8 o clock the Paramount Theater begins a five day Texas premiere run of Stagecoach hailed as the greatest western picture. Paramount manager George Tucker hopes for a radio broadcast and interviews with old time stage coach drivers, welcoming cattlemen at the convention. Walter Wanger praises Amarillo as host to the cattlemen and asks Press to cover the Texas premiere on March 3.
Clearwater report notes Pi.D. Grundy and his wife Elizbeth Grundy were born on the same day in Bolton England. Mrs. Grundy died near ninety and the next day her husband died, marking a sorrowful double death in succession.

He helped illuminate ancient Egypt and Egyptology through the Tut discovery and related digs.
Senator Johnson California Republican warns the Senate against “sidious propaganda” leading to war and outlines a two point policy of no war and no entangling alliances while criticizing sanctions and arms sales to France. The House interstate commerce committee weighs leaving rate disputes to the ICC as hearings continue.
Senator Harrison warns of economic confusion if federal spending and the national debt rise further. He urges a radical, substantial cut in expenditures, no tax increases, and a conference of government officers to map an economy program. T J Sikes of Devol Oklahoma forged ahead in the modern pony express from No cona to Oakland California and the Golden Gate Exposition. Leading by twenty miles he arrived at Throckmorton at noon ahead of eight rivals who finished near 4 PM California time. A $750 prize awaited the winner at the trail end with competitors including Chris Asseton Nocona Slim M ashis Darhart George Cates Crowell and Shorty Hudson Knox City among the field.
Forecast calls for fair and warmer conditions in Amarillo and West Texas on Friday, with New Mexico also fair and little temperature change. Hourly readings show high around the mid-50s and lows near the upper 30s to lower 40s, with trace precipitation of 0.02 inches in the last 24 hours ending 4 PM yesterday.

Sir Arthur Willert, noted British diplomat and journalist, speaks at 8 15 p m in the Amarillo High School auditorium under Globe News auspices on the international signficance of the European situation. Tickets at the door are 40 cents.
