Amid protests over grain sorghum price supports, farmers question tying crop prices to parity. Dumas meeting saw 150 farmers oppose acreage allotments for higher supports. At Fair Park on Wednesday March 2 events include a morning automobile show from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A Panhandle Hereford Breeders sale is at 1 p.m. in the Sales Arena followed by a rodeo in the Coliseum in the afternoon.

Robert Lazear of Cheyenne, manager of Wyoming Hereford Ranch, urged a new approach to beef cattle improvement and touted PanTech Farm weight for age. Bill Dameron of Hereford was elected president, Alfred Meeks of Dalhart vice president, with W. M. Gouldy continuing as secretary manager.
Five day forecast March 1-5 from Associated Press notes Western Texas mainly near normal temperatures with El Paso area near the usual range. Expect little or no precipitation and similar minimums around 26 to 40 degrees in the north and 39 to 50 degrees in the south.
Amarillo Daily News notes the Amarillo Little Theatre farce Goodbye Again opens with a novelist pursued by an old flame. Directed by Dick Dye, the production runs tonight and tomorrow night at Municipal Auditorium. Tickets are $2. Sets by Oma Link Bowley feature a Statler Hotel room.
Don Slavens, 27, reported two men dressed as cowboys grabbed his billfold and cigarets near the Tri-State Fair Coliseum around 9:30 p.m. They forced him into his car, drove him downtown, and fled after dropping him in Polk-Taylor alley. One robber was arrested about 11 p.m.. the other escaped in a stolen car. Slavens’ glasses were broken during the incident.
Canyon is the only Texas city among 19 of 40 applicants shortlisted for the Cowboy Hall of Fame headquarters and museum. The site committee will visit 10 cities by air on March 15 and announce visit dates to chambers of commerce. Final site decision due April 15. Ray Schnell chairs the committee with Albert Mitchell, A M Swenson, John D Lewis, and Fred H Dressler on the panel.
An 8 year old boy set four fires around Polk Street Methodist Church including inside the building and on a car upholstery yesterday. Police say he was described as jumpy and he told officers his father is a drunkard and his mother won't help him. The juvenile officers turned him over to the Child Welfare Bureau after questioning.
