Taxidermist Herbert Rodgers began skinning stuffing and mounting the leopard after its death from a collapsed lung following a three day chase. Veterinarian W O Bowerman said the jungle bred beast died 15 hours after capture. 4000 people joined the hunt and a replacement leopard from California is promised for the zoo.
The annual High Plains Grain School will be held March 9 to 11 at the San Jacinto Methodist Church education building in Amarillo. Organizers include the Amarillo Grain Exchange Tex-O-Kan Mills and the US extension service with sessions on grain grading variety studies for operators brokers and warehousemen of Texas Oklahoma and New Mexico.
J D Potter a 35 year old Tulia plumber died at Swisher County Hospital after a wreck on the northeast edge of Tulia. W N Cotton Sims a 25 year old disabled veteran was injured but not believed critical and remained hospitalized. The car owned by Sims reportedly lost control from a country road onto a paved street, tire marks showing zigzagging before it rolled onto its back in a yard near John Lemmons home.
