Hollywood Stars Arrive for Panhandle Premiere in Amarillo

College Building Given Go Sign

Amarillo trustees authorize $350,000 in bonds to fund a new Amarillo College building on the northeast campus block bounded by Washington Jackson Twenty second and Twenty fourth. The two story brick masonry structure will house music home economics and other facilities with a 166 by 59 foot main section and winged furnace and band rooms.

March Winds Lashes Texas with Floods Dust Storms and Tornadoes

A severe spring storm swept through Texas causing floods dust storms hail and high winds. In Opelika near Henderson County a twister destroyed four or five houses and damaged barns injuring a mother and son. A second twister hit Mabank amid heavy rain with almost 3 inches recorded. The storms followed a path near Brownsboro Mabank and Athens.

Tex Independence Day Activities and Weather Impacts at Perryton

High Plains Today reports a busy Independence Day with all banks closed and a 0:00 AM to 6250,000 bond election for water and sewer expansion at Perryton. Polls stay open all day. events include tax talks in Dalhart, Kiwanis and Lions meetings, real estate board sessions, a marriage forum, a Quail School Queen crowning, a Panhandle world premiere, Girl Scout banquet talk, and a Texas Exes gathering. A play, a car accident near Opeka, and high winds with cold, wintry mix storms affected the area. Temperatures ranged 26 to 43 with gusty 16–29 mph winds and 0.20 inch precipitation.

Coke Stevenson to Speak at Panhandle Livestock Meeting
