Legislature Applies Broad Search and Seizure Bill
Senator A J Wirtz of Seguin says the search and seizure bill of the 39th Legislature covers all criminal laws not just liquor violations. He insists the measure protects bill of rights guarantees, requires warrants, and bars evidence obtained illegally and searches without probable cause. The bill passed with one dissent in the Senate and limited House opposition centered on wording rather than intent.

Cracks Grow on Chief Mountain Side in Tremor Fueled Slide
Forestry officials warn the north end of Chief Mountain in the Teton National Forest is cracking amid Saturday night tremors and a larger slide toward the Gros Ventre river. The expanding landslide could form a lake bigger than last week and threaten the nearby ranger station, potentially diverting the river’s outlet. The previous slide already halted ranch irrigation and deepened the river, with ongoing risk of further slides.
