In Tahlequah Oklahoma Judge O H P Brewer sentenced Lois Thompson a 19 year old co ed to 30 days in jail for shooting Daniel Shaw a Chinese student after a petition with over 1000 signatures urged suspension. Thompson surrendered to Sheriff Grover Bishop and was placed in jail.
Rome June 24 sources report Benito Mussolini plans to press for an Italian protectorate over Ethiopia after British demands for a full settlement. The move signals Italy would reject a partial solution and seek broader control in Africa.
Daily Express dispatch from Addis Ababa reports the Italian legation ordered all Italians to depart Ethiopia in ten days. Funeral services for O G Griff Crawford veteran Santa Fe dispatcher and national poet and author will be held this afternoon in Wellington Kansas. Crawford a native of New Lisbon Ohio born 1876 lived in Amarillo for years and was father of Mrs Otho Thompson. He died Sunday at Santa Fe hospital in Topeka and wrote more than 3800 poems published by The Saturday Evening Post and other Western venues.
The Texas Utilities Company asks the District of Columbia Supreme Court for an injunction to block a $423000 PWA loan to Plainview Texas for a municipal power plant. It argues Title 2 of the National Industrial Recovery Act is unconstitutional and federal funds would be used unlawfully.
