Bank Bandit Falls Short in Daring El Paso Heist

In El Paso Texas a bandit robbed First State Bank of 1620 dollars then discarded the loot and clothing. He fled pursued by police and pedestrians, leaped into a garbage can where he hid in striped trunks before being captured by officers and FBI agents. The suspect was identified as 27 year old Richard Roscow Jessee, a vacuum cleaner salesman.

Gladewater Rodeo Clown’s Gun Wounds 17

Seventeen spectators were wounded when a clown fired an allegedly unloaded shotgun into a rodeo crowd in Gladewater Texas. Eleven treated and dismissed, six admitted at City Hospital. injuries not critical. Spectator Wilmer Earhart of Waco said several children were hit as pandemonium ensued. The incident occurred during a rodeo act with a small donkey entry.

Graves Damage Solved

Three youths aged 17, 16, and 15 were arrested near Amarillo for vandalizing a cemetery by overturning stones. They admitted the act, with the 16-year-old explaining a ghost story motivated the incident. two tombstones were overturned and others damaged.

Youth Nabbed is Suspect in Bank Robbery

FBI agents arrested a 16 year old boy in Brownsville on Friday in connection with an $18,000 Del Rey bank robbery. The youth stood near the International Bridge to Mexico and refused to provide information about his father Dean Rainey, listed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted.

B52 Bombers Hit Viet Cong Stronghold Near Saigon

UPI reports that 27 B52s dispersed a Viet Cong concentration 28 miles northwest of Saigon in a two square mile area near Ben Cat. The strike, with 500 tons of bombs, disrupted possible Viet Cong maneuvers as ground units reconnoitered for four hours with no casualties.

Garden City Levee Breach Amid Arkansas River Flood

Flood waters from the Arkansas River breached a concrete and earth levee south and west of Garden City Kansas forcing evacuations. Two nursing homes and St Catherine's Hospital lost first floors and basements to rising water. City sewage plant flooded as crests approached and National Guard aid was requested for sandbagging.
