Destructive floods and electrical storms sweep the Southwest with at least sixteen deaths across Texas Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Colorado River caused $2 5 million in damage as 39 cabins were swept away in LaGrange and entire blocks flooded in Columbus and Wharton.

Harvey E. Southworth, a Santa Fe switchman, had his left arm amputated after a yard accident early yesterday. He underwent surgery and was reported resting easily at St. Anthony's Hospital. he lives at 4231 West Eleventh Avenue.
The United States ends its effort to extradite Martin Insull from Canada for trial in Chicago. The move follows the acquittal of his brother Samuel Insull on similar charges, and U.S. officials say they will not pursue further action.
