An infant ape raised as a sibling to a professor's son shows environment and training yielding near human mental development. Dr. W W Kellogg of Indiana University ran the study with his son Donald and the ape Gita, sharing clothes, food, discipline, and routines from infancy.
James M. Cox of Ohio was selected to chair the influential monetary committee as Anglo American experts forecast early stabilization of the dollar and pound. Bonnet and Warburg helped clinch the appointment after three days of French opposition with hopes for a stable currency amid deflationary pressures.
Dallas police said Raymond Hamilton the youthful Dallas gang leader with total 263 year sentences was returned to Dallas County jail for safekeeping. He had been held in Hillsboro on pending charges after escaping two months ago with two companions. Officers arrested the trio near Hillsboro.

Heavy late selling produced net losses of one to seven dollars, marking the year's sharpest decline before dollar exchange rallied and sterling fell to 4.02 with other currencies sliding on short covering.
Fort Worth June 15 John W Beveridge tendered his resignation today as assistant federal district attorney and said he would move to Dallas to enter private practice. The resignation takes effect July 1. He previously practiced law in Amarillo for two years before coming here a year ago.
A Panhandle relief delegation led by John E. Hill and Grover B. Hill will travel to Washington to protest Federal Land Bank loan appraisals. About 150 county relief committee members from 24 northern Texas counties argue current appraisals of $15 per acre with $7.50 loan value are too low and seek a minimum of $25 per acre.

R H Lynn, long in charge of Phillips Petroleum land department in the Panhandle, has been promoted to vice president and head of the entire land department. Unanimous board approval sets his start date as July 1, with Amarillo duties to be reassigned. Lynn noted for rapid industry rise since 1921 and strong civic involvement.
Chicago June 15 The American Railway Executives Association asks replacing a 10 percent temporary payroll reduction with a 22 percent permanent cut. A June 17 Chicago conference with union leaders is requested. Labor rejects any cut, seeking wage gains instead. Officials foresee possible compromise before a US mediator if talks stall.
District meeting in Amarillo set preliminary organization for the repeal and legal beer campaign across 26 Panhandle counties. Major El A Simpson named wet delegate in the Thirty-first senatorial district with Mrs Hal G C Peck as alternate. Judge H E Hoover of Canadian and Judge J H Ainsworth of Borger spoke. Hoover argued the Eighteenth Amendment creates criminals and urged regulation over prohibition.
Amarillo hosts a two day downtown sale sponsored by Retail Merchants Association with city wide bargains and entertainment. 500 gifts drop from Fatamoiun Oliver-Bakie First National Bank and Post Office buildings at 7 pm both nights. Free gasoline, airplane rides, race meet tickets, and 45 premiums with purchase slips offered. City decorates in gold and black and bus fares reduced for shoppers.
Washington reports that administration plans under the farm adjustment act would pay farmers who cooperate with acreage reductions. Bonuses and rentals for cotton and wheat could total over 150 million dollars in the next four months to stimulate business and cut output. Secretary Wallace faces market reactions as taxes to fund reductions are discussed, with initial price drops and long term price hopes.
Fort Worth reports the death of 43 year old W. Munden from poison ivy infections contracted from dust inhaled while operating a hay grinding machine. He ran alfalfa through the machine at his feed store near Fort Worth.
The Senate approved President Roosevelt's veterans compromise and adjourned sine die after a late conference with House Republicans. The House followed, voting 208 to 177 to sustain the compromise, with final approval pending floor votes and any changes by conferees.
Sperini reports in Arnett Oklahoma on June 15 that wheat yields are low as the season begins. Despite low yields the expected quality appears good for the crop's early stage.
The News-Globe announces fewer than 50 reservations remain for a June 25 all expenses paid tour to the World's Fair. Sponsor Wilbur Hawk tour manager Mason King and Miss Lois Black note bookings at about 10 per day with $10 down and balance by June 20. The $75 price covers transportation meals lodging and a Century of Progress and other sights.
