West Texas flood toll rises as seven die from sudden rains

Severe floods sweeping West Texas over three days left seven dead. Oscar Tidwell and family plus Mrs Williland were recovered from Lake Creek in Knox County after a freshet destroyed their home near Goree. Randolph Field to Open as Army's Largest Flying School

Randolph field near San Antonio Texas will be dedicated June 20 and 21 as the army's top training center for pilots. Brig Gen FP Lahm will lead ceremonies and oversee a project costing 20 to 50 million dollars to create the West Point of the air, claimed to become the world's largest flying school.

Lightning kills two in Lamesa area house incident

Floods Hit South Texas and Oklahoma

Floods across South Texas and adjacent Oklahoma cause heavy rainfall, stranding travelers and washing a car off a causeway on the Del Rio road near Uvalde. In two and a half hours the town noted six and a half inches of rain, the heaviest in 20 years. Rivers rose, highways flooded, and travel was impaired as streams overflowed.

New Santa Fe Line Construction Set to Start

Construction crews begin work this morning on the Santa Fe railroad from Amarillo to Boise City Oklahoma. John McKnight reports grading for material yards in Amarillo is finished and track laying will start at once. Bridge bids for the Canadian River span are expected soon.

Plane crashes into car near Robertsdale killing family

In Hammond Indiana a army observation plane crashing during an attempted takeoff struck a sedan. Peter Brockman 50 and Mrs Catherine Brockman 45 and their granddaughter Virginia Sterling 3 died. Their daughter Ernestine Sterling 22 injured. The tragedy occurred as race crowds dispersed from the Robertsdale track after rain ended the event.

Retired farmer killed in Dallas auto crash

John Bratton, 74, of Austin a retired farmer, died after a collision on the Dallas outskirts after leaving his son’s home. His daughter Belle Bratton, supervisor of the state school for the blind at Austin, was bruised. Willis Bratton, 16, drove the car. Funeral services set for tomorrow and burial in Austin.

Wheat Harvest Underway Across Potter County Region

Boulder Canyon Dam Contest Reopens in Congress Tuesday

The Boulder Canyon dam contest will be reopened in the House on Tuesday as part of the second deficiency bill.
