German submarine sinks Moren after a running fight with American gunners. German captain congratulates seamen on their game eight, while Allied forces report losses and tactical setbacks in the battle.
The Moreni, an armed American tank steamer, fought a German submarine for two hours and sank after 150 shots to 200 by the U boat. Forty three of 47 crew members survived with four fatalities among the wrecked. The submarine commander released all naval personnel and the merchant crew as prisoners.
