Japanese Pay Fishing Fines in Alaska Coast Guard Case
In Anchorage Alaska two Japanese captains pleaded no contendere and were fined for fishing inside the U S 12 mile limit. Kinji Okawa of the Zenpu Maru 8 paid 5000 dollars while Katsuji Kawamata of the Coel Maru 11 paid 3500 dollars. The boats were seized June 7 near Norton Sound southeast of Nome after fishing for herring within the U S zone.
