Young author shoots self after vigil at father’s bedside
Cross Plains Texas June 11. Ten minutes after arising from a three day vigil at his father’s bedside the young author Robert F. How ard a young author was found wounded today in his automobile a pistol bullet in his brain. Physicians said he had no chance of recovering. He asked a nurse if there was hope his mother would recognize him again. She answered no. He left the house and the nurse later heard a shot. Howard attended college in Brownwood and wrote fiction for detective and cowboy magazines.
