Texas globe flyer Jimmie Mattern landed at Prokopievsk in Siberia after departing Omsk failing to clear mechanical problems. An expert mechanic and plane were dispatched from Novo Sibirsk to assist, with Prokopievsk noted as a small coal mining town lacking regular air-field facilities. The pilot was last sighted near Novo Sibirsk about three hours after takeoff from Omsk.

Mrs. Fannie Price Anthony 73 a pioneer church worker and civic leader in Amarillo and the Panhandle died after an extended illness in Oklahoma City where she had lived with sisters for about 10 years. Born near Auburn Kentucky she moved to Texas in youth settling in 1888 near Washburn then Amarillo where her husband Louis Anthony ran the O P Wood Mercantile and Banking Company. Funeral plans were set for Friday at Polk Street Methodist Church where she was a longtime figure.
