Police Hunt Killer After Apparent Robbery
Police search last night for the killer of Murl Reeves stabbed to death in an apparent bakery robbery in North Amarillo. Mrs Reeves, 59, was found at Mead's Bakery Thrift Store on River Road after a passerby raised the alarm. The crime occurred between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m. as witnesses saw her flee in fear. Detectives questioned two men. one was released, and no weapon was found after a search including a Salvation Army collection box. Mrs Reeves had just returned from Oklahoma and was described as loyal and friendly by coworkers. Survivors include her widower and four sons.
