Tragedy at Ceta Glen Youth Camp Crash Kills Rasberry
A Ford pickup plunged off a steep embankment near Ceta Glen killing 15 year old Wanda Fay Rasberry and injuring six others including Rev. Joe Scruggs and five girls aged 11 to 15. Victims were treated at Canyon and Tulsa area hospitals. The wreck occurred on a new road two miles north of Wayside. Authorities described the descent as extremely steep and the vehicle as a total loss. Funeral arrangements for Rasberry were pending.

Paris prison fire kills 21 women inmates
A flash fire swept through the Caserne des Tourelles women’s detention barracks in Paris killing at least 21 inmates. About 500 women were housed there. the blaze drew wide visibility as firemen fought the flames and authorities barred press access. Some prisoners may have been asphyxiated while others perished in the stairwell and rooms on the third floor.
