Prominent Tucumcari businessmen A Calish and FE W Bowen led a Amarillo conference with city development officials to pave Highway 66 from the Texas line through New Mexico. Construction starts immediately on 42 miles from the Texas line to Tucumcari with about thirty miles finished this fall and the remainder by end of next year.
