Rotary clubs in Southern California financed meals and the Catalina cruise for the Boys Ranch trip. Keith Stuart of Tulsa fell ill at Catalina and was flown to the mainland for care, with district governor John English coordinating his return. Along the way, staff thwarted an attempt to overfill the group at Santa Fe station, and townspeople greeted the party with dances and welcomes in Winslow Gallup and San Bernardino.
