Amarillo police report a possible sighting of two missing University of Texas coeds, Sharon Rigsby and Shirley Stark of Dallas, prompting multiple tips from local residents. A 26 year old Amarillo woman reports she was abducted by a man with a gun while her 7 year old daughter waited in a parked car near Elwood Park. The suspect permitted her to call home but the call was not completed. Police noted no immediate danger at the time.

Four thousand paratroopers from the U S 101st Airborne Brigade began landing at Cam Ranh Bay to bolster U S forces in Viet Nam. Brigade commander Col James Timothy said the unit could deploy anywhere by any means to secure the base and counter Viet Cong buildup, with initial operations around Cam Ranh Bay.
The Johnson administration backed by organized labor pushed through a House bill by 221 to 203 to repeal Taft Hartley 14 B and allow union shop contracts in all 50 states, nullifying right to work laws in 19 states including Texas. The measure moves to the Senate amid favorable prospects.
