Public improvement program totaling about 22 million dollars advances on the South Plains Texas. Byrd Outlines Plans of South Polar Flight
Boston, July 27. Commander Richard E Byrd outlined to the Associated Press his plans for a scientific expedition to the south polar regions. Two monoplanes, a single motor craft and a three motor plane like the America, will be used with Discovery Harbor as the first contact point. Camps will be established by air with six months of provisions per 100 to 500 miles, crossing an ice barrier and a 15,000 foot mountain range toward the pole. The party will include biologists, ornithologists, geologists, ichthyologists, meteorologists, a magnetic expert and a geographer among others.
