A wide investigation is ordered as an official probe unfolds across Texas. A saloon keeper’s statement creates confusion amid reports of attacks on a Peteet girl, while county returns tally up to 6 o clock.
At 6 p.m. 248 of 252 counties reported in the Texas gubernatorial race. Dan Moody led with 383,520 votes of 767,799 counted, short of a majority by 760. Miriam Ferguson trailed with 263,637 and Lynch Davidson had 115,165, with results from several statewide offices and congressional districts listed.
W A Williamson of Bexar County will urge the Texas legislature to declare Governor Miriam A Ferguson's office vacant if she does not resign by September 13. He expects anti Ferguson forces to control both legislative chambers and press for her removal. Commodity prices rose in June, while overall production held steady from May with declines in autos, textiles, and iron and steel, per federal reserve data.

Amarillo Independent School trustees call a September 4 vote on a proposed bond near $300,000 to fund a senior high school expansion in Pleasant Valley with auditorium gymnasium and other facilities. The exact amount will be set at August 6 meeting.
The Associated Press reports the steamer Gulf of Mexico failed to signal the Italian steamer Ansaldo San Giorgio Secondo caught in the hurricane off Jupiter Inlet. The Mexico used searchlights but could not locate the Ansaldo. the West Hawashaw also could not find it despite clear air.
Palm Beach and West Palm Beach suffered more than a million dollars in damage from a Caribbean hurricane. Forty yachts and houseboats sank in Lake Worth, the Lake Worth wooden bridge washed away, and oceanfront property faced heavy losses. Gas and electric service were crippled as winds reached 70 mph amid heavy rain. Mrs Meade and John Clark survived when the Meade yacht sank at Lake Worth.
Brussels reports a ministerial decree awaiting the king's signature to raise taxes on foreigners from England the United States Holland and Germany. Hotel bills for foreigners from those countries would rise 10 to 20 percent a 10 franc daily charge on foreign owned cars and a hotel tax surcharge are included.
A saloon keeper Luis Amador in Tia Juana testified he attacked Clyde Peteet, linking the case to the Peteet family pact in San Diego. The Peteet family reportedly ended their lives in a shared death pact after visiting the resort.
Auto wrecks and a fist fight occurred between Amarillo and Panhandle from 9 to 11 last night. Joe Alvarado, involved in a crash with four people, was later discharged on fighting charges. E J Green testified to Alvarado’s fighting, while Alma Mayes and E Green were fined for offenses. others from Borger included Dollie Necessary and a man called Speck. Deputies cited recklessness and heavy drinking. no serious injuries were reported.

J J Mickle for Dr Norris said counsel has not yet been engaged.
