The Globe News nerve centercentral to coverage gathers nearly 200 people plus 50 regional correspondents and radio TV crews to tabulate and report results for Amarillo and the Panhandle. Robersons Set Ontario Muskie Records on Vacation
A Texas family from Amarillo, Mr and Mrs Dean Roberson and their children Bettye Jean and Jerry, fished in Ontario during a Bewdley stay guided by Pete Sidey. Mrs Roberson landed a 304 pound muskie at Rice Lake, a first for the season, while Bettye Jean reeled a 74 pound walleye and likely hooked another muskie before line broke.

Supreme Court appeal planned after Texas ruling
E A Simpson, counsel for 13 railroad workers and the Santa Fe Railroad, says yesterday's Texas Supreme Court decision is not a setback. The 6 to 3 ruling dissolved an injunction blocking a union shop. it allows compulsory dues while denying full membership requirements. Simpson calls it a victory for nonmembers and plans a US Supreme Court appeal in October. He argues nonmembers pay only the portion used for collective bargaining, not political activity or other programs.

Collision of Andrea Doria and Stockholm in Atlantic Fog
In dense fog off Nantucket Island the Italian liner Andrea Doria and the Swedish Stockholm collided. The Andrea Doria listed severely and began abandoning ship while the Stockholm had a damaged bow and flooded hold but appeared less at risk. Coast Guard boats and Cape Ann assisted as distress signals spread and rescue efforts continued. The Andrea Doria, sailing from Genoa on its maiden voyage, carried about 1,134 passengers. The Stockholm, built in 1948, aided the scene with life boats lowered and rescue operations under way.

Two Killed Four Injured In Collision On Highway 66
Mrs. Jake Banks of Ventura California and her 5 sons were en route to Arkansas when their car rear ended a loaded gravel truck eight miles east of here at 10 30 am. Mrs Banks and her 5 year old son were killed. The four surviving sons were injured and hospitalized with non life threatening wounds.
