Craggy faced actor Van Heflin born in Walters Oklahoma moved to Long Beach at seven and found stage work after a sea career. He starred in Green Dolphin Street Battle Cry Shane and more before earning an Oscar in 1942. Heflin married Frances Neal in 1942 and had three children before their 1967 divorce. Funeral services were held in Vici Oklahoma for Charles C Shaw 66 a former Boise City funeral director and schoolteacher He died Tuesday morning at his home from a heart attack He ran a funeral home and taught in Boise City from 1932 to 1937 later moving to Vici He married Hazel Lucas in 1923 Survivors include his wife a son Charles of Vici and a sister Mrs Julius McCoy of Enid

Dalhart Mayor Ted Frush Dies at 68
Ted Frush, 68, Dalhart mayor, died Friday evening at his home. Born in Hutchinson Kansas he moved to Dalhart after 28 years as Western Auto division manager. He married Evelyn Wade in 1925 in Kansas City and led the Inter-State Fair in 1955 while serving on the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce board. He was a Mason and is survived by a son Don in California.

Bolt of Lightning Kills Young Man at Baptist Camp
Tad Wafer 23 of Ferris was killed when struck by lightning during a baseball game at the spring Baptist encampment on Farm Road 999 three miles east of Gary Texas.
