Traxler Death Penalty Sought by Oklahoma Officials
Two hostages aided prosecutors to pursue the death penalty for Roy Pete Traxler after a pistol point robbery and a gunfight that left Traxler wounded and fugitive Fred Tindal dead. Oklahoma attorneys Sam Colby and Ben Carter said Traxler should be tried in Oklahoma, possibly avoiding Texas. Mrs. Traxler posted bond and joined Traxler's hospital visit, saying she hopes he is tried in Oklahoma.

Army Fliers Join in Search for Maryland Girl Missing on River
Army aviators from Aberdeen proving ground aided a river search for 18 year old Janet Wohlsen of Lancaster Pennsylvania who vanished after starting a solo fishing trip on the North East River in a rowboat. A dark hulled sailing boat with several men was sighted approaching her boat. The sailboat was found adrift between Elkton and Havre de Grace with no one aboard. Police planned dynamite charges to recover a possible body. She is the daughter of lumber mill owner John Wohlsen of Lancaster.

Doctor Slayer Is Given Death
A jury in Howell County found 23 year old farmer Robert Kenyon guilty of slaying Dr. J. C. B. Davis of Willow Springs and recommended the death penalty after nearly four hours of deliberation. Kenyon showed no emotion as his girlfriend Opal Welch cried. Judge W. E. Barton did not set a date for execution. The case traveled from Oregon County on a venue change after Davis disappeared January 29 and was found shot. Kenyon led authorities to the body and gave what the FBI called a full confession.

Huntsville July 22 Texas prison system general manager O J S Ellingson said three convicts remained at large after two Eastham prison breaks. Of 29 escapees in June, Charlie Chapman Walter Reiton and Arthur Whitten were still free. Ellingson noted about 99 percent are recaptured or return voluntarily.
