Weather Delays Polar Flight Takeoff From Moscow

A. A. Vartanian chief engineer of Am torg Trading Corp says adverse weather delayed the Moscow take-off of three aviators on a 6,250 mile non stop flight over the north pole to San Francisco. Moscow officials did not release information. A telegram confirmed the delay.

Sooner Bound Over in Pampan's Death

Garland Creekmore a Broken Arrow farmer was bound over for trial on a murder charge in the death of Elmer Lemon a Pampa Texas oil worker. Creekmore identified as the shooter testified he called on Lemon at the home of his fiancée Ora Benedict with rivalries dating to high school.

Relief Cut Off in South Dakota To Force Harvest Labor

Nineteen thousand heads of families were removed from South Dakota relief rolls as officials suspended all state and federal relief to compel unemployed recipients to seek harvest work. Deputy Welfare Commissioner Philip L. Ketchum ordered work-relief projects stopped and offices closed until farm labor needs are met, with unemployable cases referred to county agencies. American missionary Rev. Edwin Beck reports Japanese gunboat bullets showered the Hu ping College at Yochow Hunan Province last Thursday. District Conference Sets WPA Program Plans

District conference to determine Panhandle participation in the Works Progress Administration program will be held Wednesday with delegates from 20 counties. A A Meredith urged school districts, cities, towns and counties to send representatives and staff will explain WPA department functions. Counties named include Dallam, Sherman, Hansford, Ochiltree, Lipscomb, Hartley, Moore, Hutchinson, Roberts, Hemphill, Oldham, Potter, Carson Gray, Wheeler, Deaf Smith, Randall, Armstrong, Donley and Collingsworth. The meeting starts at 10 oclock Wednesday morning.

Schoolboys held for shooting in Breathitt County

Quillen Howard and Edmond Frazier, both 16, were arrested by Sheriff R A Collier in Jackson Kentucky on a charge of slaying 13 year old Cecil Davis. Davis was shot on his way to school with other Breathitt County children as summer term begins due to winter road conditions. The youths said the shooting was accidental.
