Mrs Sharon Sites, 34, a blonde widow, finished a 40 day 2300 mile Pacific crossing from California to Honolulu in a 25 foot sloop. Her only companion was a turtle and a radio. She had no fuel and was towed by the Coast Guard near Oahu after winds up to 60 miles an hour. Her savings of 9000 funded the voyage. The voyage ended with a broken wrist and a Coast Guard tow.
