Wardlaw Dies in Amarillo at 41
Elma Ray Wardlaw of 1811 B Polk died about 8:20 p.m. yesterday at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo after falling ill at a local physician's office. A Plains Creamery employee, he was born July 11 1911 in Kirkland and served in World War II. Survived by wife Frances and daughters Mary Alice and Helen Louise, his mother Mrs. T. E. Keasler of Amarillo, five sisters and three brothers. Funeral arrangements pending at Blackburn-Shaw.

Ex Con Charged After Escape Identified By Wallet Alias
An escaped inmate identified as Charley Stubbs, with address 408 North Solano Street Albuquerque, is charged after a Friday morning robber attempt in Albuquerque. He claimed to be a painter, said he was in Amarillo two days earlier, and that the stolen vehicle a 1941 Buick was seized near the station. The man, serving a life term for armed robbery of a tavern in Stroud Oklahoma since 1940, had prior burglary in 1926 and rape in 1930. He escaped after being made a trusty. He waived preliminary hearing and is held without bond in Potter County jail.
