It was a great day for the Corrigans as Douglas completed a solo Atlantic flight. Mrs Stanton McGlish gave birth to an 8 pound 4 ounce daughter at Glendale General Research Hospital in Canada. The mother expressed joy and relief that both mother and baby are safe.
Douglas Corrigan dismisses ammonia tablets used by fliers and says he will be back next week while denying plans to endorse products after his Atlantic flight. Denis Mulligan, director of the Air Commerce Bureau, calls Corrigan’s feat a great day for the Irish and vows no harsh punishment.

A massive late night explosion at Sinclair Oil’s Wellsville refinery killed three men and injured about 50. A 2,500 barrel tank exploded near daybreak and a 50,000 barrel tank caught fire on the opposite side of the plant. Firefighters fought flames as tanks and naptha holdings burned, with reports that 13 tanks exploded earlier. The refinery spans about 50 acres near the oil town. Continued on Page 9.
