Miller Arrested for Murder in Hobart Case
Prominent local attorney Ernest T. Miller was arrested on a murder charge in the death of Edward W. Hobart of Plainview whose body was found Tuesday night. Two men hanged for murder in St Louis jail
Associated Press reports Charles Merrill age 23 and Hugh Pinkley age 35 were hanged in St Louis city jail for the killing of Officer Michael O’Connor during a payroll robbery attempt on April 22, 1922. The double execution occurred about 4 08 PM after delays and a last minute plea for more preparation. Pinkley, formerly of East St Louis, Merrill of Galesburg, both ex convicts.
