Mike Wallace on NBC radio says every family man should take four weeks of vacation a year. One week with the family, one with the wife alone, a third week camping or fishing, and a fourth week at home alone to enjoy familiar surroundings.

A severe thunderstorm swept Spearman at 12 51 am bringing high winds and heavy rain after passing Guymon about an hour earlier. The Amarillo Weather Bureau warned of more rain in the system as lightning hampered communications for about 15 minutes.

The 82 billion military construction bill vetoed by President Eisenhower includes 17.121 million for Amarillo AFB to extend runways ahead of a planned B52 squadron.
