Oil Strike for Amarillo Man
J. R. McGill of Amarillo achieved an oil and gas flow today from a well on the J. R. Stewart 14-acre lease, a mile southwest of Brownwood between the city and Camp Bowie. Estimates range 100 to 200 barrels daily through tubing with gas, as tanks and a separator are erected after acidization. A 19-foot saturation occurs at depths 1,585 to 1,604 feet. this is the fifth lease well, with earlier wells being shallow sand producers nearby in the Ranger lime field.

Flying saucers to drop in Panhandle towns today
At least three paper flying saucers will be dropped three over each of Bovina Friona Hereford Canyon Amarillo San Jon and Tucumcari today. Louise Massey and other artists will appear in Clovis Saturday for the summer children’s program as four tickets to the Massey show accompany each saucer.

Ex Officer Held In Bank Robbery
CRIPPLE CREEK Colo July 16 A former Army lieutenant was arrested for investigation after the First National Bank of Cripple Creek was robbed by a lone gunman. Teller County Sheriff Cecil Markley said William Boethin 25 of Colorado Springs was stopped at Cameron crossroads near Victor, brought to Teller County jail for questioning. He denied the crime as crowds gathered outside the jail. House the bank’s vice president was wounded and the cashier shot and stabbed. Beagles the assistant cashier said House murmured to call the sheriff and that Boethin had shot him. Several thousand dollars in currency was missing though the amount could not yet be determined.
