A burglar or burglars robbed Clarence Saunders grocery in San Jacinto. The safe, opened by combination with apparent ease, contained cash and checks totaling about $1200, the entire Saturday receipts. Big Canyon opens to public in Guadalupe Mountains
Carlsbad New Mexico July 11 Big Canyon in the Guadalupe mountains of New Mexico will soon host its first cabin under construction by Huling Ussery who holds a Forest Service permit to guide visitors into this little known scenic area. The canyon spans a quarter mile at the mouth and stretches five miles by trail to a gorge 50 feet wide with walls rising two thousand feet. Visitors may enjoy spring water diverse vegetation and notable geology while mountain sheep and deer frequent the area. Big Canyon will be the only Guadalupe southern scenic site under Forest Service permit for visitors.
