Tucumcari New Mexico July 15 Jack Adams controversial Santa Fe road contractor was found dead in his room at the Congress Inn Motel about 8 am today heart attack. The 48 year old man known for highway matters was discovered by James Lee foreman. A coroner s jury found death due to coronary thrombosis between 7 and 7 30 am. Adams had suffered a prior heart attack near Taos on Oct 12 1959. He built the Lordsburg Urban Project once deemed a failure by the Highway Department. The state sued him for 546 826 but a 1962 Santa Fe District Court jury found he built according to plans and not liable for damages. He was disqualified from bidding on NM road projects in 1961 and was working on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari when he died.

Tornado injures two in Highland area near Pampa
Two people, S. C. Jones age 73 and his wife 67, were listed in serious condition at Highland General Hospital after a tornado lifted their trailer and tossed it 50 feet into the side of a nearby home. The storm struck about 8:50 p.m. with hard rain and hail, affecting residences 14 miles south and one mile west of here. Mrs. A. J. Babcock reported seeing the trailer roll over and crash into her home, prompting an ambulance call from Duenkel-Carmichael Funeral Home to transport the injured.
