Colonia Morelos reports from Sonora as AP notes Mormon residents describe federal troops occupying streets and yards. Soldiers looted stores and rode through town firing while officers failed to restrain them. Women limited to homes as moral tensions rise.
AP dispatch from Chihuahua reports Mormon settlements south of Sonora, including Colonia Diaz, facing rebel pressure. A rebel colonel demanded surrender of arms two days earlier. Mormons refused, preferring to fight rather than disarm.
Orange New Jersey July 15 Right Rev Dr Thomas Bowman senior bishop marks ninety fifth birth anniversary at son in law Burns Caldwell home. He is the oldest American bishop by years and service having served forty years as bishop and traveled worldwide while guiding Dickinson Seminary and Indiana Asbury University.
Hundreds of Elks returning from the Portland convention boosted attendance at Seattle's Golden Potlatch carnival opening. The weeklong program features day parades night pageants athletic and aquatic events and outdoor shows.
United States leads the Olympic Games with 128 points, Sweden second with 104. The U S also tops track and field with 85 points to Finland 27.

Democratic Executive Committee selects Wilson's choice to lead the party as chairman. Local officials announced the vote and named the new party head.
William F. McCombs of New York was elected chairman and empowered to appoint a nine member campaign committee and national treasurer. Joseph Davies of Madison Wisconsin was named secretary. John L Martin of St Louis was re elected sergeant at arms. Tar Gart invited to join Indiana allies to meet Governor Marshall for the VP bid.
London July 15 Buckingham Palace grounds hosted King George receiving the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. The visitors were presented by Lord Denbigh, commander of the Honourable Artillery Company of London.
Judge Ramsey, candidate for governor, rested in Dallas after a strenuous North Texas campaign. He says he made thirty speeches and addressed thirty five thousand people in fourteen counties. He left for Corsicana last night and will speak there today.
Attorney General Lightfoot directs State Chairman Sheb Williams that electors names must appear on primary ballots. He disagrees with Assistant AG Lane who argued no provision to print electors on ballots and warns it could invalidate Texas presidential vote. Section 52 prohibits electors on official general ballot unless voted in primary.
Two Bleriot type aeroplanes arrived at Torreon Mexico and will be tested before farther north. Lieut Col Roberto Carranza and Capt Jose Osorio command the machines with Carlos Vega and Carl Schmidt piloting them. Mexico poised to be second nation to use aeroplanes in active war amid high anticipation for the trial flights.
In Marshall Texas on July 15 the Holiness camp meeting set to begin July 26 at Scottsville seven miles east of Marshall and run to August 4. Now in its twenty fourth year the event draws visitors from Louisiana Arkansas and Texas with attendance peaking around two thousand on the fourth Sunday. Rev R T Williams and Andrew Johnson of Kentucky will preach assisted by local pastors and Harry Maitland will lead singing.
William Sartell alias Morgan and Charles Francis fought for five hours near Craig Colorado before capture. Believed linked to the Wyoming Hole In The Wall gang they were bound over for district court. Sheriff moved them to Canon City to prevent rescue by companions.
The battleship Wyoming, fresh from Philadelphia on her trial trip, ran onto a sand bar a mile and a half below Wilmington. Tugs aided as the captain reported no damage and said she could proceed at the next high tide.
General Orozco told the Associated Press in Juarez on July 15 that any man who accepts terms from the Mexican government would become a bandit and oppose the revolution. He declared that true revolutionists are willing to sacrifice their lives for the holy cause and that the people will not accept amnesty.
In Deming New Mexico Arthur J. Evans recounts detention by rebel rurales after accompanying Charles Sparks and wife to Colonia Diaz for Mrs Adams funeral. A confrontation with a Mexican officer led to Adams being shot. Evans and Sanford were jailed, with Evans later released on bond after multiple court appearances.

At Marys Cathedral in Galveston on Sunday morning Rt Rev Bishop Gallagher conferred priesthood on Rev Paul F Newee of St Marys Seminary La Porte He is the youngest priest ever ordained in America and 22 years old with a Rome dispensation for age 2 years six months.
Denver July 15 Arrangements are under way for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy to raise capital and absorb the Colorado and Southern System. The move would fulfill J J Hill’s plan for a Gulf to Pacific transcontinental route. Through service from Denver links with Great Northern and CBQ for a Galveston to Northwest trip with a single car change. Through sleepers from the gulf port run to Denver with a brief layover before continuing to the Pacific Northwest.
Special to Daily News reports on July 15 in Snyder Texas that Will Thompson was shot on Onyder Street early morning. Five shots were fired two hitting Thompson in the shoulder and leg. W B Ash surrendered to officers. Thompson, about twenty five and single, with a family in Snyder, is expected to recover.
Washington and Far West Texas forecast. Tuesday expected showers in the southeast while the rest remains generally fair. Evening temperatures show a high around 70s and a low near 40s with variable readings.
North Texas sees clouds and heat with storms in Denton and rain in Beaumont Marshall and Longview. Some towns report light showers in Greenville Waxahachie Hillsboro Stephenville Nacogdoches Texarkana while Hereford and other areas report no rain. South and West Texas remain warm or cloudy with pockets of rain.
