Farmer Ross Mahagan Shot Dead at Petersburg Area Farm
A 70 year old farmer Ross Clyde Mahagan was found fatally shot at his home seven miles northwest of Petersburg. An inquest by Justice of the Peace W J Lewis found a .32 automatic pistol in his right hand and a second bullet wound on his left hand. Neighbors say he lived alone and was in poor health and nearly blind. Funeral arrangements are pending with Roy G Wood Funeral Home overseeing.

Arthur Knett, 53, of Plainview, died when a pickup van carrying Henry Allen, 41, struck a farm road. Passengers Juan Riez and Adam Baca, 20, suffered cuts and bruises and were treated. Allen remained hospitalized with serious injuries.
