Ruth Reddell, a local woman, sustained injuries in a late Saturday automobile crash near the airport. Police said the driver lost control, the vehicle struck a barrier, and emergency crews transported Reddell to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Two fatal crashes near Amarillo claim Chester H. Watson and Charles M. Showmaker. Loyd Wiseman dies near Wildorado. The 50 merchants banded together promote a citywide sales event in Amarillo. Ads and radio programs highlight hundreds of items at peak-season values with window cards identifying participating stores and early shoppers urged to act.
The Panhandle held a 1911 convention in Amarillo with derbies, double-breasted coats, ten gallon hats and autos. Delegates arrived on horses or Old Paint tied near the Potter County courthouse. Garland Greekmore, 27, farmer near Broken Arrow, surrendered at Tulsa County jail with his attorney after being hunted since last Monday for the shooting death of Elmer Lemon at the home of Lemon’s fiancée Ora Benedict in Broken Arrow. Lemon was from Pampa Texas. Greekmore had been hiding near the Verdigris River bottoms. Murder charges filed.

A Dutch Fokker airliner with 14 passengers and 6 crew crashed after takeoff toward Sweden. Ground staff, a steward, and a Norwegian passenger saved 12 lives by freeing trapped travelers as flames engulfed the wreck. Six died: pilot Silverstein, wireless operator Neiber, mechanics Brom and Vandyk, and passengers Newman and Hodgson. No Americans aboard.
J. W. Wood, 45, a Oklahoma constable, succumbs to a stomach wound after a pistol is snatched from Constable J. A. Gibson by Arthur Huff, 23, at a suburban club. Huff held in county jail. Wood died at 10 A M after being wounded near 4 30 A M. Wood leaves a widow and two children.
In Corry Pennsylvania an angry mob of about 500 gathered at the home of Julius Sweitzer and his 86 year old wife hurling rocks and burning tar and feathers. Police Chief J Burlingame said the crowd was stirred by the July 3 murder arrest of 64 year old Guy King, a neighbor and son of Mrs Sweitzer, and police and firemen rescued the couple.
Looting and arson spread through York Street and Sandy Row in Belfast as Protestant Catholic clashes escalate. Five killed and 46 wounded since Friday as police and troops impose guard duty and restore order amid ongoing rioting and gunfire.
