Tyler judge Connally Mc Kay bars Mrs. Guinndoline Madden of Alto from approaching Ross Philips 76 to stop alleged attentions. Philips, son of East Texas merchant, produced about 300 unread letters at the hearing. He testified Madden barged onto his property and tried to crawl in a window.
Deputy Sheriff Herbert Phillips had an auto accident in his own backyard when his car rolled into the garage. He trapped his foot under the brake pedal but the vehicle was undamaged. The incident left the garage looking like a tunnel.
Dr James Rufus Wrather longtime Amarillo physician and former medical society leader died at St Anthony s Hospital at age 99 He practiced from 1906 and delivered about 3500 babies He retired in 1953 and is survived by siblings and grandchildren in California and Texas.
An Amarillo man is in custody after stabbing a 70 year old man, Arthur Scott Leamons of Delark Arkansas, and attacking a Trailways bus driver near Quanah. Leamons was in critical condition with chest wounds and a punctured lung. The suspect, 45, was being held on the driver’s complaint. formal charges pending. The incident occurred after both men boarded the Childress bound bus. police said the attacker was fired from Amarillo seven months ago and was en route to visit family.
Fair mornings and partly cloudy afternoons for Amarillo and surrounding areas this weekend with little temperature change. Panhandle and South Plains expect partly cloudy skies Saturday and Sunday with widely scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night. Temperatures show warm trend with highs around the mid 90s and lows near 70s.
For 18 years the Young brothers Bill and Dick of Louisville have chosen to pursue higher education together. They have accepted scholarships at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, continuing a shared academic path begun in youth.

A Navy F-7U jet and its pilot are missing after a cross country flight encountered foul weather 50 miles northwest of Amarillo. An allied pilot landed at Amarillo Air Force Base around 9 p.m. local time, and authorities from Dumas and surrounding counties joined a search with city, county, and state police aided by base personnel. The plight began when the crew reported trouble shortly before 9 p.m. and no trace of the missing aircraft or crew had been found by midnight.
A city patrolman Keith DeShane on motorcycle pursued a jaywalker in downtown. He dismounted to chase the violator but slipped while rounding a corner and skinned his knee and shin. The suspect escaped.
