Falls Five Miles To Death From B-29 Bomber
In San Diego a B 29 navigator fell five miles to his death when thrown from the bomber at about 26 000 feet. 1st Lt Walter H Hilbert 32 of Biggs Field El Paso Texas was identified by the coroner. Witnesses saw him fall from the aircraft whose astrodome blew out likely from air pressure at altitude. The coroner found no parachute was used. The B 29 remained unseen above the clouds.
