Fast California train planned on Rock Island
A fast California train with Pullman service on the Rock Island lines will pass through Amarillo. Memphis official C A Searle announced the plan this week. The Memphis to Amarillo run would drop about nine hours with a total Memphis to Amarillo time near 85 hours. The new schedule would be 26 hours to Amarillo with stops likely at Little Rock Shawnee Oklahoma City Amarillo Tucumcari and maybe another city before Tucumcari where it would join The California from Kansas City. Davis noted the train may start September 1 to move early fruit and vegetable shipments from the Imperial Valley.
