District Judge Juzo Kawachi said the trial of U S Army Specialist William Girard will begin at 10 a.m. August 26 at Maebashi, Japan. The case concerns inflicting bodily injury that killed a Japanese scrap gatherer on a firing range January 30. There is no jury trial in Japan.
In Knoxville, the government released segments of its FBI raw files related to the Clinton segregation trial. Judge Robert L. Taylor ordered disclosure of a witness statement by Robert G. Crossno, while parts of another witness’s FBI transcript remained under seal. The 16 defendants face charges for contempt tied to a court order banning interference with integration at Clinton High School.
Donald J. Blackwood, a former Cincinnati Air Force sergeant, his Korean wife, and their 10 month old child arrived in Hong Kong after being expelled from Communist China. They vanished from Portuguese Macao on April 28 and reappeared after being ordered out as illegal immigrants. Blackwood stayed in Canton for over two months, and Macao authorities say he slipped into Red China under cover. He refused to speak, planning a news conference.

In Maywood Illinois a substitute mail carrier James Williams 19 was charged with delaying the mail after dumping a heavy bag into a quarry and later into the Des Moines River. Residents complained as mail floated away and was later recovered and delivered. Williams claimed heat made the mailbag heavy and refused rounds on both Saturday and Monday.
In downtown Houston a man using a plastic pistol robbed the Bank of Texas of 1480 dollars and fled to the basement of Woolworth’s department store. Officers J L Ward and L J Middleton captured Dan M Jones, 28, of New Orleans, with the cash in a paper bag after a chase along the street. Three bank officials pursued him.
A noon meeting at the Herring Hotel Crystal Ballroom gathers Amarillo chamber of commerce and others to hear Marshall Formby and Chili Smith discuss the east west interstate highway plans. Attendees may have questions and should reserve luncheon spots by 4:30 a.m.
Sen. Lyndon Johnson of Texas called for the Eisenhower administration to curb foreign oil imports at once. He cited two years of increased imports since the defense act amendment and criticized limited administration action. He warned Texas crude production may stay at 13 days in July and August.
U S Weather Bureau reports fair hot weather for Amarillo and vicinity with a high near 97 and a low around 67. Panhandle and South Plains remain fair with possible afternoon clouds, while New Mexico enters partly cloudy skies with scattered thundershowers mainly north and west. temperatures range 85 to 100 across regions.
H Aubrey Elliott consultant for the National Probation and Parole Association says Potter County's probation program saved 100800 in taxes by spending 18000 over two and a half years. He told a Polk Street Methodist Church meeting that Texas counties could save millions with a similar system.
A Ford Foundation grant funds a five year study to improve probation and parole in Texas led by Elliott with about 50 officials attending. Potter County reports 297 adults placed on probation under Landis and a current caseload of 148 with 64 revoked terms. net program cost is 18000 after client payments.
Mrs. Shirley Cole of New Orleans hailed a taxi with 13 bricks and asked to go to the home of Miss Marian Phillips. She tossed bricks at the Phillips house, striking seven windows after throwing nine of them, then was stopped by police. She blamed her estranged husband for the attack.
