Four Latin Americans killed in Hereford train collision

An eastbound Santa Fe Chief struck a stalled car 1.3 miles west of Hereford at 5:17 pm, killing four Rock Springs, Texas men and injuring one. Victims were Steven Enriquez and three relatives, Jose Barerra Enriquez, 16, Tano Barerra Enriquez, 15, and Jose Cantu Enriquez, 15. The injured, Videl Rodriguez Fernandez, 22, was hospitalized in satisfactory condition. The train engineer said speed was about 70 mph. crossing had no lights or bells. The men were headed to Hereford Labor Camp seeking work.
