The OPA suspends quota requirements for non federally inspected meat packers in Amarillo and Pinkney, allowing full production and potential price relief. Packers expect 5 percent price drops within weeks as meat supply expands and black market activity declines.
The Pinkney Packing Co plans to raise slaughter for hogs and cattle as OPA allows unlimited slaughter to meet a larger supply. Fred Miller states kills will jump from 90 000 to over 300 000 pounds weekly with full market impact in three to four weeks. Prices could fall as supply expands.
Two people were jailed on swindling by check charges after giving more than 500 dollars in worthless checks to Amarillo merchants yesterday. Guy W. Martin and Beatrice Martin face a district attorney complaint filed by George Pulley, manager of Maddox Western Leather Craft. The pair were arrested at the Amarillo Hotel around 3 pm. Beatrice Martin is under a felony warrant in Arizona with extradition expected.
Paris dispatch reports Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov urged immediate creation of central German administrative bodies for a unified state to sign a peace with the Allies. He opposed dismemberment, argued against treating Germans as Hitler’s sole heirs, and called for four power Ruhr control and preserving Germany as a democratic industrial state. French minister Bidault tied centralization to fixed western boundaries and sought a plebiscite on any major territorial split.
In Brooklyn, Judge Samuel S. Leibowitz spared three murderers from the electric chair after the widow of boxer Al Davis, killed during a tavern hold up, asked for mercy. The men John Romano Vincent Giarratta and Russell Donohoe received life sentences with the possibility of clemency by governors. Davis left behind a three year old.
A dramatic escape from Harlem Prison Farm No 2 near Pugarwaua ends with 25 inmates recaptured and one prisoner killed by a rifle shot from prison steward N E Rader. Guards pursued in cars as convicts rammed laborers and fled along a new roadway.
Shining missiles observed in the last day traversed high altitudes at great speed fueling speculation that Russia is testing rocket experiments on Baltic bases. Witnesses described a greenish blue ball with a tail light, with similar reports from multiple sites in Sweden and Finland two months earlier.

They honeymooned in Knoxville where he plans to settle after seeking Navy discharge. Neomia is mother to Eugene Baldwin 22 Lonnie 23 and Virginia 19 who recently gave birth to a grandson.
