The United States Britain and France publicly rebuke the Soviet blockade of Berlin calling it intolerable and demand its immediate end. They offered Berlin talks but insisted Russia must lift the food and fuel blockade first.
Three government notes on the Berlin dispute were kept secret until Friday to allow Moscow time to respond. Officials say the American missive is firm yet not belligerent as talks consider taking the case to the United Nations if Russia refuses. A Berlin official dismisses Moscow claims that repairs forced the western rail line closure as baseless. ADN reports traffic could resume with travel permits from Soviet authorities. The notes were delivered to Moscow on Tuesday via Recordak machine.
Borger endured a severe wind and rain storm that isolated the city for about 45 minutes. Winds reached 68 mph, windows shattered, trees uprooted, and water flooded streets as communications failed and power outages occurred. No injuries were reported.

The Standard Oil Company of Texas has signed the final lease for a 28 000 acre block and will begin a wildcat test northeast of Childress between now and September 15. Hunt Drilling Company will drill up to 7 600 feet or until production. The site lies north and northeast of Childress on both sides of the Red River.
Cairo reporting tallies claim 325 Jewish dead as fighting erupts on day one of Palestine warfare. United Nations mediator Folke Bernadotte, meeting King Abdullah in Amman, asks both sides to cease fire for 10 days starting Saturday. no agreement reached.
Clayton July 9 special report describes a cutting horse contest by the Rabbit Ears Roundup Association. A dogie ducked under Arther Rogers' horse to flee but the horse bit the dogies ear and forced him back. Arther Rogers won the contest.
Harris county grand jury returned 14 indictments with 43 counts alleging sale of meat for human consumption and sale of sulphite treated meat in Houston markets restaurants and a school over six weeks of inquiry.
The Amarillo area expects widely scattered thundershowers Sunday otherwise partly cloudy with little temperature change. Texas portions: partly cloudy Saturday and Sunday with widely scattered afternoon and evening storms. Yesterday temperatures peaked around 93, with measurable precipitation reported in the late morning and afternoon.
In Ogle County Illinois on July 9, Harold Heatherington a farm worker, his wife Mrs Heatherington and her three children were found shot dead in their Oregon home. Authorities believe Mrs Heatherington killed the four then herself, the bodies found by neighbors Ed Dirksen and Robert Case.
Four deputy sheriffs, their faces red from mesquite bites, surveyed Trinity river bottoms where stolen cars were found awaiting. The report notes investigators, including A. W. Stacy and M. RC., guarding the area as authorities pursue leads.

Washington July 9 The government relinquished control of the railroads and returned them to their owners. The seizure began May 10 under President Truman amid a threatened strike by the engineers firemen and switchmen. The dispute was settled Thursday with a 15.15 cent an hour wage increase retroactive to November 1 and changes in operating rules. Officials anticipate further wage demands and expect renewed activity by September.
Borger voters will decide Saturday whether to retain the current mayor and four city commissioners or to recall them and elect new officials. Five names were nominated, one withdrew, leaving four candidates and one write-in blank on the ballot. The present commissioners are Pred C. Herbst mayor and commissioners George W. Finger Neil G. Yows George G. Boyd and R. V. Latimer.

The high school A Cappella Choir plans a repeat performance after a New York trip fund program. Orator Dory Detton announced the orchestra is available and the Sports Arena is set for a repeat entertainment Saturday night. Admission is $1 per couple with Amarillo square dance teams featured in exhibition dances and the choir singing numbers.
The Texas State Park Board advisory group urged maintenance on Palo Duro State Park roads. In its first meeting they drafted resolutions asking the State Highway Commission to reconsider its plans. The meeting occurred at the Capitol.
