An agreement settled a rate dispute involving the Dalhart Gas Company in Austin on July 9 as trial began. The new rate will be 45 cents for the first 1 000 cubic feet, 40 cents for the next 29 000, and 22 cents for the next 170 000 thousand. refunds totaling $8 000 will be paid to the city for distribution to consumers.
The trial of Jimmie Cloud III, Borger deputy sheriff, for three counts of negligent homicide in a gasoline truck crash near Electra was postponed after two physicians testified he is under medical treatment at a veterans hospital in Albuquerque New Mexico. Cloud was driving the car that collided with the truck. three companions, including a patient en route to a state hospital, were killed and Cloud seriously injured.
