In Fort Worth a four year old, Billy Griffith, was shot in the abdomen during a toy gun game. Seven year old Fritz Schristmidt held a pistol cartridge end to a stopper toy and fired, using a shell he found. The 88 caliber bullet struck the child, who is dangerously wounded.

Special to The News Panhandle July 9 thousands of people from across the Panhandle witnessed 247 persons naturalized into the Ku Klux Klan at a fifty acre pasture near Panhandle. Cars from Amarillo Canyon Claude Clarendon Goodnight McLean Shamrock Groom Miami Pampa White Deer attended. Naturalization was conferred on residents of Amarillo Panhandle Groom Pampa White Deer. A fiery cross and the US flag stood at the center of a large circle where the ceremony occurred with cars double parked for over 200 yards. A reporter was placed on a white horse to announce the event from the stand under the cross.

Funeral Tragedy Echoes Through Plainview Family
Funeral services were held in Plainview for three victims of a triple tragedy at the Faulkner place two miles northwest.
