Fastest rider tops Range Riders Rodeo in Amarillo

In the fifth Range Riders Rodeo performance at Fair Park Coliseum Amarillo Texas Miss Jackie Kirk of Plainview posted a 14 second time to win the girls barrel race and claim the best overall time in the event. Bern ie Palvador of Amarillo and Junior Green of Sayre tied for top bareback bronc marks. Jake Bogard of Bulla won calf roping in 11.5 seconds while Ace Winders of Channing took bulldogging in 4 seconds. Charles Barton of Clayton NM secured saddle bronc riding and Jimmie Lee of Plainview rode the brahma bulls best. Kirk received a trophy from Maddox Western Leather Craft and a western belt buckle.

Road Deaths Well Below Predictions

The Associated Press reports millions of motorists reached home safely as the Fourth of July weekend neared its end with traffic deaths far below expert forecasts. One Man Killed and Eight Hurt in Riverside Free-for-All

Woman Charged Freed on Bond in Auto Injury Case

A 10 year old Amazillo boy was critically hurt when an automobile struck him and two friends near 41st and Lipscomb. One boy suffered mild injuries, another escaped with minor foot injuries. Mrs Schweitzer charged with assault with a motor vehicle and released on bond.
