The Patriotic Party endorsed George Wallace on Tuesday as its choice for president. Founder Robert Bolivar De Pugh told Kansas City delegates the party is not yet legal and has no ballot access in any state.

Gov. Lurleen Wallace of Alabama, 40, entered M D Anderson Hospital in Houston for diagnostic tests and possible treatment for a cancer recurrence. She appeared well and said she felt fine as she traveled with her husband, former Gov. George Wallace.
North Vietnamese artillery and rocket fire killed 15 U S Marines and wounded 51 in night attacks on four outposts south of the DMZ. Earlier 21 Marines were killed and 40 wounded near Leathernecks while on a mercy mission. Marines fought free from a trap around bodies of Americans killed last Sunday amid heavy DMZ fighting.
Lake Geneva Wisconsin endures tense peace after a weekend of vandalism and youth unrest. About 300 youths were detained in three days, with 100 more of 200 still held as tempers cool. Officials kept traffic restricted and residents only in town.
The First State Bank of New Mobeetie will reopen under a new roof today in the same building as W H Adkins Grocery after a Monday night tornado wrecked the former bank. J T Johnston says the time lock on the Safe won’t release until 9 am. Patrolmen guard the vaults as curious locals flood the area. Thelma Harrison’s beauty shop and N M Hunt Hardware Store across the street were also damaged.
About 45,000 spectators filled Dick Bivins Stadium and nearby areas for the 14th annual Globe News Independence Day Fireworks Show. Police reported 23,000 entering the stadium to see the Plainsmen, Amarillo Air Force Base Drum and Bugle Corps, and Golden Spread Band in a 30 minute spectacle.
