A tornado spanning about 80 miles in the Upper Red River Valley killed 11 and injured around 30 as it swept through North Dakota and Minnesota. Woman Flier Die In Decorah Air Show Crash
Marge Hurlburt of Panesville Ohio holder of the women's international air speed record was killed when her borrowed AT-6 crashed during a Fourth of July air show at Decorah Airport. The 32 year old WASP veteran died instantly as spectators watched the doomed stunt after looping and a roll. The Flying Tigers aerial troupe staged the event under the Decorah Chamber of Commerce and halted the show after the crash.

Hoydada Youth Dies of Injuries
Cecil Anderson aged 23 died in a Plainview hospital from injuries from a head on collision Tuesday night three miles north of Floydada on Highway 207. He was from Floydada. The body was returned for burial services tomorrow. Glen Jarnagin and Elvis Warren suffered minor injuries. The other vehicle was driven by Raymond Ford who had cuts and bruises and was released from the hospital.

Bootmaker kills ex wife and escort then himself on Borger Main Street
In Borger on July 4 a bootmaker, Marving Scarborough, shot and killed his divorced wife Maybelle Scarborough and her escort James E. Lacy in front of Arkie's Liquor Store, then died by a self-inflicted gunshot. Both victims and Scarborough died at North Plains Hospital with police investigating the double homicide suicide.

Amarillo Child Dies in Traffic
Bobby Riggs age 3 was struck by a car at Sixth and North Fillmore after breaking from his father. Clarence Graham of 801 Travis drove the car and Kenneth McNabb carried the boy and his father to St Anthony's Hospital where the child was pronounced dead. The boy's parents reside at 908 North Taylor.

Fire Damages McCall Parsons Drug Store in Levelland
